Green Apple Collab
"BACK IN 5" A Collaborative Retail Residency.
The iconic Green Apple Skateboard Shop will host its first collaborative retail residency with premium lifestyle apparel brand, Ekumenik. “Back In 5” is a play on the short-but-sweet nature of this project, and also a nod to Green Apple owner Mike McDermott’s famed door sign noting that he’ll be returning shortly after a beer run. “Green Apple has always been focused on local projects,” says Mike McDermott. “Although Ekumenik is more then just local, I’ve always been stoked on Jordan Kendel’s hard work and determination. The fact that he’s a fellow Winnipegger got me hyped on this collaboration — we both figured it would be a great opportunity to take things back to the roots and have some fun.” This concept expands on the typical pop-up ideology by creating an immersive environment that celebrates two global brands with community ties. Green Apple and Ekumenik also connect beyond a shared space with collaborative product drops that are only available in-store. Featuring their co-branded residency logo, these exclusive limited-run styles include: the vintage Terry Cruise blended cotton crewneck sweatshirt, the custom-cut Premium Tee rendered in combed cotton, and the Rat Hat — an unstructured strapback built with durable polyester ripstop.
“Mike has been on Corydon serving the skate community through thick and thin for nearly a decade —there’s nothing more Winnipeg than that,” explains Jordan Kendel, president of Ekumenik. “I’ve always loved the minimalist shop concept and staunch commitment to the brands he represents. We’re beyond excited for the opportunity to post up and showcase a retail experience like no other.”
Aside from exclusive collaborative releases, a complete offering of Ekumenik’s thoughtfully designed menswear will be available alongside Green Apple’s private label apparel and skateboard hardgoods.
